eufy Security Video Doorbell E340

Based on 85 comments across 5 communities
TL;DR
Owners praise the E340 for its dual cameras with a dedicated package view, solid video, and the freedom of local storage with no monthly fees, with many calling it a clear step up from Ring. The most common gripe is that it needs a separate chime or Homebase to ring indoors, and a handful of owners run into picture-quality or connection hiccups. For buyers who want package detection and no subscription, it's a strong, well-rounded pick.

42% of 85 verified owners recommend the eufy Security Video Doorbell E340, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

I just got E340 plus mini chime. Currently working on battery only it seems to be working well. I will need to tweak the view, but I think mains power will be required as the battery is down to 80% after just a few days.

First I was annoyed as the image quality issues with my E340 dual camera video doorbell. I was reporting via email kept asking for the same (footage, logs, settings, try this/that) which they had already asked before and I provided them the same thing already. Showed they are not reading previous emails and correspondence. Really frustrating. But then, th

Everything is just a tick or two behind ring. I didn't want to keep paying for ring, but I get it. I do enjoy having all my recordings local with no subscription.

The doorbell itself offers a range of features and certainly beats my Blink doorbell in this department, although it is also larger and heavier.

I ditched my ring doorbell bell and bought the eufy e-340. So far it’s great.

Not really had that many issues with mine except the AI is way off sometimes. And the battery drain issue the last update introduced.

I have an Eufy E340 which works well and seems really responsive. The dual camera is actually really useful.

Having just moved from rip off Ring to Eufy myself I’m very impressed. We have gone for the E340 and the video quality is miles better than Ring. Im not paying £50 a year out too and Rings customer service after my doorbell Ring doorbell died annoyed the hell out of me.

My E340 Doorbell horrible and my S340 outdoor cam just junk when trying to speak to someone. They have no noise isolation when speaking and think that has a lot to do with it.

Redditⓘ good to know

My doorbell is compatible with hb3, but for connection stability purposes don’t have it through my homebase and it exposes to HomeKit with the homebase 🤷🏻‍♂️. It does work though.

Redditⓘ good to know

I purchased a Eufy E340 Video Doorbell because it claimed it could be hardwired, allowing for pre-roll recorded clips. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to achieve this yet.

Redditⓘ good to know

My E340 doorbell works fine with it though guess I just got an expensive chime left now! lol

Redditⓘ good to know

The E340 doorbell records only events. It does not support 24/7 recording.

Well I ended up buying a Homebase 3. After adding that to the mix the doorbell now just shows the percentage and not the plug icon. I have a ticket open with Eufy and also found this thread https://community.security.eufy.com/t/eufy-e340-video-doorbell-hard-wired-issues/3969948/22 Seems like a known thing

With the Eufy app I get full resolution and the ability to see the different dual cams. Access to the local storage on the Homerbase. The different modes (Home/Away/Off) are easily accessible to make things different like notifications and such. With homekit I get none of that. Just the (reduced quality) video stream and notifications.

I really wanted to have it installed today so I said: "Screw it, I'm going to hardwire it with the battery installed and to my amazement, the app was treating the device differently. I've had mine installed for about 1 week. It's very cold where I live, it's been -22C every night, so that would mean that it charges slower. My battery percentage after a week is 86%.
