The fact that they don’t fold completely in a compact case like the XM4’s is mind boggling. The convenience factor is important. The design is slick but at the cost of practicality

the XM5 by default sound quite dark to me, I had to change the EQ to bright to liven them up.

I do feel the XM5 is the overall better headphone and a MUCH better value.

I just can't justify having $400 tied up in them when the jabra elite 7 pro sounds almost as good for $120 and are much better for using when active due to the tiny size and water resistance/durability.

Really impressed with these so far. Even this early I already consider these the ultimate travel companion and office headphone. It's one of the best values you can get in a headphone when it comes to the total package.

Head-Fi▼ don’t recommend

I'm flat out... disappointed and vastly underwhelmed with their sound quality.

1000XM5: Better comfort, battery life, call quality (mainly due to the better ability to silence background noise), and has an app with great features like EQ.

but they're just so muddy compared to my other listening option.

you'll LOVE the XM5. Same signature, just a little more mature for a lack of better words.

Head-Fi▼ don’t recommend

Those XM5s are just so lacking in almost every category.

I for one bought it for industry leading ANC and for portability/BT/travel use. I think Sony is still at the top and a good all-rounder with exceptional noise cancelling and good mic/call quality.

Love the new design except the much lamented lack of foldability! Feels as light and comfortable as the XM4s, but the ear cushions are even softer and pillow like.

After all is said and done I think I'll hang onto them. They won't replace my ah-d7000 obviously but they're pretty good for portable. The fact that the EQ settings from the app follow the phones to other sources sealed the deal.

I have to say I don't hate them quite as much as I thought I would. ANC is very very good, better than the airpods because obviously physics helps. I like the controls, they're easy to use and being a large surface it's easy to always get it right.
