Shark SpeedStyle

Based on 47 comments across 5 communities
TL;DR
Owners overwhelmingly treat the SpeedStyle as a genuine Dyson alternative at a fraction of the price, praising fast drying, smooth shiny results, and a genuinely useful set of attachments across curly, fine, and thick hair. The most common gripe is that it runs louder than the Dyson. A few also found the diffuser less effective for defined curls and noticed an abrupt drop in airflow between the high and medium settings.

87% of 47 verified owners recommend the Shark SpeedStyle, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

A great fit if
  • Shoppers wanting Dyson-like results at a lower price
  • Curly, coily, and afro-textured hair with specialized attachments
  • People wanting faster drying and smooth blowouts
  • Anyone who wants a lighter dryer without a high-pitched whine
Look elsewhere if
  • Those needing the strongest possible airflow, which some found lacking
  • People expecting it to eliminate frizz when straightening
  • Anyone wanting the quietest dryer, since some find it loud

I didn't like the rotating brush. I don't know why it rotates.

it works pretty well for smoothing down flyaways

I have a Shark Speedstyle, had it for about a year. I like the adjustable prongs on the diffuser. It's okay. My hair takes forever to dry no matter what though

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

probably because it's impossible due to the design!

I recently bought the shark speedstyle hoping it would cut down on frizz when I straighten. It has not. It dries my hair super fast though.

i personally use a shark speedstyle pro flex blow dryer and olivia garden round brushes and they help me produce much better blowouts, as opposed to what i got in my kit.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I tried the shark speedstyle set and it just wasn't powerful enough for me. I don't care for the Dyson either.

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

during use, the device turns off for a few seconds and then comes back on, as if it overheats and pauses briefly

The Venus Face— neutral

One downside I noticed is that the dryer is a bit louder than some of the premium models on the market, like the Dyson Supersonic.

I just bought mine and I really really like it

I find my shark brush has no airflow out of it like the revlon.

The High setting is powerful, and some users might find it too strong. However, the Medium setting is significantly weaker.

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

You need to use it on a low speed, it was definitely too strong

I do find that it gets pretty hot even on the medium heat setting. Personally, the Laifen is my go-to dryer.

So far tho I like a lot

YouTube▲ recommend

Wow you're hair looks gorgeous from just using the dryer

My styling brush stays locked in that weird position

Reddit▲ recommend

i use the shark speedstyle dryer and really like it. i've tried the dyson a few times and wasn't the biggest fan, mostly because i dislike heat-curling my hair as it's naturally curly. if she usually wears her hair straight, the speedstyle comes with an attachment that glosses the hair once it's straight-dried which is such a nice finishing touch.

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

Your hair doesn’t look sleek smooth looks frizzy

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

my hair was so frizzy after and poofy

Reddit▲ recommend

I have 24 inch extensions, it’s a ton of hair and I can dry my hair with a brush and my Shark Speedstyle with the concentrator attached in about 20 minutes if I really wanted to be done fast.
