Marshall CODE 50

Based on 201 comments across 6 communities
TL;DR
Opinions are sharply split: fans praise the huge range of tones, gig-worthy volume, and value once dialed in, but many owners criticize the cheap stock speaker, muddy factory presets, and fiddly learning curve, and some find the digital tone thin next to a tube amp.

54% of 201 verified owners recommend the Marshall CODE 50, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

It isn't the amp that sounds bad, it's simply the way it was recorded.

you made that sound better in 1 minute than I had in 1 year!

been trying to tweak this amp for two years and still can’t get a decent tone

I have a Marshall Code 50 and I don't love the chorus on it so I figured I'd upgrade it

proving that one can get good sound from an average amp if you know how

I own this amp and I can tell you, it sounds much better than it does on this video.

in the Code 50 test in some simulations it demands more time to regulate, and it seemed to me to have more scooped average like the DSL

Have a Code 50 and I love it to bits. Once you get attuned with all it’s options, finding a good tone isn’t hard, and it’s got some good tones in there! (not the stock presets though, those are ass)

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I used to have a Marshall Code 50 but I found that I was playing with all of the presets more than I was actually playing. SO I sold the thing

In reality, the code 50 had too many dealbreakers for me to live with

It sounded a lot better in other demos, I'm sure there was some sort of technical issue here.

after having it for a while I managed to get great sounds, and have never malfunctioned

I first had a marshall code 50 and liked it a little but then I got a boss Katana 50 and very quickly sold the code 50. The code was every bit a digital modeling amp but the katana sounds like a real amp

Currently own a Marshall Code 50. Was very disappointed at first. Played it and wasn't happy. Sounded dull and lifeless. Also couldn't get the Bluetooth to work. Let it sit for many months without touching it. Updated the current firmware a couple weeks ago and now it sounds much better.

played this amp and it's really cool and affordable.

I have a marshall code 50. I like it a lot but i never use it anymore. It collects dust in the basement. It can actually make any sound you can dream up.

I have a code 50 and it’s amazing 😂I mean the presets aren’t the best but once you tweak it’s amazing.

Do NOT buy a Marshall Code 50. I comment this any time someone brings them up on this subreddit. The amp is mediocre at best.

Well, I'd say you can go Marshall Code 50, but you have to mess around with the presets, but there's a page where users submit their presets and you can find that stuff there.

The Code is a great amp but you need to turn off the speaker emulation if you're using the built in speaker.

As someone who has a code50: I dont really like how the phone app works... I found myself never using it (the bluetooth connection being hard to establish is also a pain) and wishing i could just tweaking and making presets on the pc like you can with the mustang. Maybe marshall will make an app available in the future, i really wish it.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I've had a Marshall Code 50 before and would 100% recommend the Katana over it. I never really thought the Code sounded good, and feature wise it felt a little lackluster.

I have a Marshall Code 50 and it’s okay if l play in my dorm room alone. But playing it trying to apply to the more experimental stuff I try to write it isn’t the best when it comes to that.

I have a code 50 as well and honestly thing it sounds good as long as you leave the cab modeling off
