If it's windy out the daisy wheel vents work really well. As chop said you can close two of them off in the winds direction and control the temp with the third vent.

I love my 22. I also love the SNS 22in kettle. But I've noticed that I'm wanting more real estate on them, so I would probably recommend a 26. But you won't regret either purchase!

I have the 22. premiere with the basket under it. I hate it the vent is P shaped, very hard to control temps for low & slow.

Long ago, I smoked chicken on my Kettle. I put the charcoal baskets on both sides with a drip pan down the middle. Put 25 lit coals in each basket. Made some really good yardbird.

Personally since I'm not concerned about the falling ashes I like the easability of the pan over the catcher. The 22" also has the hook lid which works great.

I love my 22” kettle. I have one of the copper colored ones. I’m cooking two fatties on it right now. There is nothing that compares to cooking with charcoal. I highly recommend a kettle

I use the old 22" for smaller/shorter cooks where I'm not so concerned about temp control. I've never been able to keep temps "down" in anything anyway LOL!

I've got a Weber 22. Hard to beat it for burgers, sausages and steaks. Don't really know much else other than you can cook a pretty fair amount of food for the amount of charcoal you burn.

It can be a cuss fest sometimes . The newer design is better than the old one . The older ones twist in to lock . The newer ones work like a hinge .

Butut if you have something else for larger, cotrolled-temp smokes/cooks then the 22" is great but I think somewhat more limited to grilling or higher-heat setups (hard to keep the temp down on that smaller size.)

I have 2 - 22.5 inch Webers and a small Smokey Joe . Bought my first one 41 years ago and I like it way better than my gas grill. Only downside is the price of charcoal

I like the ash catcher on my premium 22. It's about 10 years old and works fine. You don't have to clean it out every cook, so it's not a lot of work really.

I'm not a fan of the premium ash catcher. It can be difficult to remove and empty the ashes. The dish on the original makes it a breeze.

My 22 was a ‘05 OTS with the disc. I added the ash catcher, slide - aside lid holder and SS sweeps. I use it for Vortex and rotisserie cooks. The premium ash catcher is awkward at first but soon becomes much easier once you get the touch.

I love my 22” kettle. Have ribs smoking in them now. I use it to smoke and grill all the time. It’s a great grill and the possibilities are endless.

Now, if you like to cook your sides with your main protein on the grill, the 22 fills up real quick. That right there is my biggest complaint.

*Any model with bail that holds lid - smoke/heat can blast you in the face when lid is up, if any wind it creates an eddy of smoke heat- never had a problem with hook on lid as many complain about. * Ash can models are nice, but not a necessity.

Here is my 22” loaded with a full pack of Pterodactyl thighs over my vortex . You can pack a good amount of meat on one of these gems.

On my 22" with the disk. All I have to do is rotate one of the springs and remove the dish. Takes about a second.

Here is a recent cook on my 22. It gets a little tight with sides..

I still have the 22" Dad gave me in '96 and use it regularly. No ash catcher. Seems like it would just be something else to clean...

22" Performer deluxe in green. Haven't used it yet. The weather has not been kind. But I'm very impressed with the quality of it.

I use my kettle more than my offset. It’s incredibly versatile. I absolutely love this thing. It’s my favorite cooker hands down.

I have MANY smokers. When I do a brisket, 22” Weber is my go to! Snake pattern the coals and let the time release work for you.
