But the bottom filter piece came apart and I’m not sure how to put it back together.

it's double walled stainless steel so it doesn't get hot to the touch on the outside which is nice.

Excellent coffee .

It's a really good one for 35 dollars. I got tired of cleaning bacterial slime out of my 100-dollar Cuisinart Coffee Maker. This one is more sanitary and much easier to clean. And it doesn't break like the glass ones.

now adore my Secura french press for loose leaf tea as well!

Had it for almost 5 years, dropped it on tile floor, bang it inside sink everyday to get out the remainder of the grinds ... not a scratch

I've had that Secura press for 3 years now, and I have to say it's been fantastic. If you want to make less coffee I suggest stacking two screens together to get a better extraction with less water.

If I’m with a group and we can share gear/weight then I lobby to bring our usual stainless/insulated French Press.

FWIW, I have that exact same french press, and use Hoffman's method. No problems at all, and no more broken french presses.

I also shared a link above to a 1500ml stainless steel Secura that I have used for a year. Prior to that I also used glass. My experience does not bear out that the Steel loses heat faster that Glass resulting requiring the coffee to be reheated.

The triple filter system trapped all sediment, resulting in a smooth cup with rich aroma and flavor.
