if you are planning on brewing just 3 cups or 18 oz, you actually need to brew 4 because one is lost below the filter

The double filter is such a smart idea!

Coffee is great though, cleaning not so much.

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

Sadly they aren’t vacuum sealed anymore, just double walled.

You’re making me feel like the $180 I just spent was actually justified lol

This is my biggest complaint too that it leaves a noticeable amount of liquid at the bottom. I find I have to plunge it a couple of times or just keep it tilted until it all slowly drips out. It's like it doesn't quite go all the way to the bottom.

My daily morning ritual.

you're getting microplastics that the plastic filter housing doesn't filter out after hot water submersion

I bought one and I hated it. All the cheap plastic in the filter drove me crazy.

I have the espro p7 in white. I love it!

I have the large P7 and a P1. The great advantage of the Espro full stainless presses over their glass presses is that the stainless steel ones keep coffee hot for a long time.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I don't recommend this press. I recently noticed black pieces floating in my coffee and thought it was coffee grounds, but upon closer inspection, it was the paint peeling from the lid!

With the P7, not only does the coffee retain more heat due to superior insulation, it is also much better sealed off from the coffee at the bottom of the pot.

I tried the small, and could not brew 16 ozs., especially dark roasts. I exchanged it for the large, and returned that one too, for the reasons I stated above.

I am just ordering my third filter bcs it tears away from the plastic frame over time. Has anyone else experienced this. I have owned my pot for about 4 years. I have also found it doesn;t keep the coffee very hot.

Espro has a P7 model that works really well! It’s around 32 ounces and does an excellent job retaining heat.

the filter design is bad. It leaves a huge amount of water in the bottom of the French press. Not worth it imo unless you really need what it offers. I wish I had just got another normal french press. It's actually harder to clean as so much water stays in the slurry

YouTube▲ recommend

it makes some really good coffee . I have another more traditional French press but this is the way !

Just think about it. You are boiling plastic and drinking it.

Even though there is a little liquid left at the bottom, it’s ok, if I’m desperate, I’ll go ahead and filter it the leftovers myself with an extra sieve. Otherwise it happens to make just enough for the perfect large cup of coffee I need in the AM. The taste is excellent.

Reddit▲ recommend

my test run this morning did not get bitter/sour with a couple hours after-press time

Reddit▲ recommend

You get a clean cup that can never be matched by a traditional French press.

I have a P7. The main benefit for me is that it pretty much stops the brewing process and keeps the coffee hot. So if you want to brew a large amount either to drink slowly over the course of 2-3 hours or have ready for guests it's a real treat. The main drawback aside from price, for me, is that the plunger is heavy enough that it'll plunge itself - meaning I can't force the grounds to saturate below the surface while keeping temperature up.. and that it's best for brewing near full volume (otherwise you'll have some waste below the filters).

Redditⓘ good to know

Yeah, but mine's only separated by about a half centimeter or so at one edge. It doesn't bother me.
