The “shots” came out atrocious. Mind you I have a POS grinder as well but I tried even asking a coffee shop nearby to grind my coffee fine “espresso level” and it was disastrous.

Switched it out for a bottomless portafilter + double shot basket, used my stepless modded Timemore C3 (not C or ESP) to try and dial in. Got a pretty decent result straight off the bat.

I did it, took my machine apart. Yes, it was fun, but I did not notice much improvement. The steam pressure is anyway not so strong as on prosumer machines because the boiler is small.

i also have a dedica for a few years now and i never had any warning light to descale it. I actually filter the water before going into the tank and have set it up in the softest setting.

Suddenly, during extraction, the portafilter starts slipping/unlocking itself from the group head under pressure. I literally have to hold it in place or it twists off.

With a little practice, the Dedica can make quite good espresso, and very nice milk foam. It is extremely fast in heating up, clocking in at 30 seconds until brew ready.

Been using since Nov 25, over 150+ brews. Nothing to complain. Added bottomless portafilter , no other mod. I feel it is value for money. Steam wand is quite decent.

r/espresso— neutral

Used it on a 5 setting with non pressurized to get good flavor and no crema, anything less than 5 was SOUR! Using it on a 3 setting with pressurized to get pretty good flavor and crema now.

I recently wrote a post sharing my frustrating experience with the De'Longhi Dedica and the Baratza Encore ESP grinder using the stock pressurized filter. I couldn't manage to dial in my shots

My biggest single complaint is reliability. For what should have been £200 machine, it started to fail after about 18 months and has now completely failed after less than 3 years of not heavy use.

r/espresso— neutral

My yield is consistently way over 32 grams, sometimes even reaching 100 grams in just 26–28 seconds. The puck isn't solid after extraction. Sometimes the portafilter/basket sprays everywhere

entering the world of espresso with a delongi machine really isn't a bad idea at all. They don't cost much, and with the pressurised basket, are really forgiving for starters. Heck, I'm still using mine.

Every time I pull a shot, the seal seems to fail. About halfway through or towards the end of the extraction, there is a sudden "explosion" or pop where coffee/water sprays out from the top of the portafilter.

well I can do same thing with ec685, but that require smaller pitcher(450ml) so I changed the wand later, I have both 685&885. The length of the wand is not ideal though

I've bought this rather inexpensive machine to get into coffee drinking. So far I'm quite happy with the machine but I'm looking for a more advanced option.

bei der dedica war es schon ganz schön, dass man nach 15 sekunden nen espresso ziehen konnte. jetzt muss ich schon recht lange warten und für milch nochmal länger. das sollte man im Kopf haben

r/espresso▼ don’t recommend

I used the finest setting on the grinder and pulled my first espresso, but it tasted bad. Like too bitter/sour. The 5 or so shots I pulled afterwards also tasted bad. The cups from my Nespresso machine tasted better..

Have been using this for 4 months now, changed steam wand to rancilio silvia, added a bottomless portafilter, Can make a really good coffee now.

r/IndiaCoffee▲ recommend

It’s my first machine - Been using for around 4 years. Honestly nothing to complain about - works really well even now. Depending on my mood I use either its pressurized basket or bottomless filter. Both work really well

It's fairly great for the budget. Although bear in the mind add 5kish more on top for the accessories. The stock stuff would only scratch the surface of it's potential.

For me it‘s just always a gamble. 1 out of 3 espressos turn out to be good. The other two are often drinkable but not really satisfying.

r/espresso— neutral

I definitely enjoy it. It makes good espresso (although not always consistently, but it's probably because of my lack of expertise), but still it's pretty much entry-level. It does not yield much crema

In this way, we achieved consistently good temperature curves in the range between 92 and 94 degrees Celsius. This is very good for preparing espresso. You can also make good latte art foam with the existing milk frother.

I’ve the machine and espresso from it seem to have a slightly artificial taste. Can’t put a finger on what’s exactly the issue.
