“Note to self: Never buy Viofo. (That speed measurement lagging by 3 seconds in the recording? Looks useless as court evidence, as his speed didn't change until after he'd stopped...)”

“Most of my extended family use A129 Plus Duo. Some other brands and models too, but this one seems to be a solid reliable camera. Plus Duo has great video, and higher resolution than the older 1080p's.”
“I have two, one in my car and farm truck. The one in the car is 4 years old. The rear camera started to have weird purple color hues in the feed. I’m assuming the rear camera lens is starting to go out.”
“I went with the a129plus and every so often I will get the rear camera disconnect chime but I consider myself luckier than the others who have it more constantly. Never had it overheat in fl weather however.”
“I have used one (the same one) in my last three cars over the last many many years; and it is still going strong with no glitches at all. Cheers”
“The one in my sedan cannot handle facing the sun. If it sits facing the sun for any length of time, it will fail to write to the SD card and I have to format the card before it'll start working again.”
“Even though the A129 Plus Duo sensor is slightly newer/better, the overall video quality is similar (low-light video is hard and optics & microprocessor & firmware & codecs & form-factor & cost are nearly identical).”
“I had to return 4 viofo A129 Plus Duos over the last 3 months. Absolute garbage. I'm looking into other brands now.”
“People say do not use CPL filter on the rear cam, but screw that. It's so much better with the CPL filter on the rear.. even with tinted window. I can still see everything clear in the video and the glare is gone like 90%.”
“Had mine for about a month now. Only complaint I have is that on hot days the adhesive won't stick to the windshield. But this is an easy fix”
“I can’t comment on any comparison but the base level A129 withstands theTX heat so it gets my vote. Tried a zenfox T3 and the heat won.”
“Same thing here. Not the cables fault. Looks like either the dashcam software or the hardware itself is faulty.”
“I have eyesight + a129 duo. Just mount it to the side, the footage angle is just fine and it doesn't interfere w/ eyesight.”
“Android or a Macbook with Viofo app works flawlessly. Apple has completely broken iOS hotspot and wifi (without internet) implementations.”
“I had an A129 about 3 years ago and the plastic around the lens melted and was all warped in under a year”
“It was only until I reviewed the dashcam footage that I realized what was the initial cause of the whole accident.”
“I had this for 4 years. Pro tips if it is working DO NOT TRY TO FIRMWARE UPGRADE IT. I bricked mine. And had to buy the same one again.”
“My a129 duo refuses without massive ass pain that ultimately leads to me giving up and pulling the card…”
“I have the same model and had the exact problem after installation on my 2022 Ford Escape (non-hybrid). Updating the rear camera firmware from a July 2022 version to the most current version on the Viofo support page appears to have resolved the issue.”
“The raw footage is waaay clearer than how Reddit compresses the video. Could actually read every plate in sight”
“I’ve tried a couple cheaper dash cams (Vantrue N4 & Viofo A129 Duo Plus) and had tons of issues with both. Parking mode wouldn’t turn on and off properly with the car ignition on the N4 (worked about 50% of the time) and the A129 Duo Plus died after about a month.”
“Interestingly, I haven't gotten this problem since I posted here, and I haven't done anything since then.”
“I have the Viofo, and it turns off then on every minute or so. Can’t find the answer to fix it.”
“I've had two Viofo A129 Plus Duo installations that have been working for over two years in the Arizona heat.”
