I maintain that this entire series is absolute trash and should be avoided. It seems thrown together with vastly inferior components and the worst firmware I have seen in any device, ever.

My 1000 is solely a HT speaker driver. If I wanted double duty for 2 Channel music, a 3000 or 5000 can drive harder to drive 4ohm speakers. I picked speakers to compliment the 1000 ohm limits.

It sounds super good with the Domes - I come from a Marantz SR6005 and could immediately hear the tigher and cleaner response in the low end. The Domes feels bigger with 360SS.

This AVR has no bass management, so using a sub is frustrating in general. For whatever reason, 360SSM adds a ton of mid-bass which makes things even further out of whack.

Otherwise, the amp is really great and sounds good. Beside, I must admit I'm not 100% satisfied with the vocals when watching movies

so far setup went well and this AVR looks promising, the 360 spatial map demo was pretty impressive, same as the 360 audio.

I prefer not to use 360SM anyway, you lose direction and detail. It’s noticeable more LFE heavy, which makes sorting your sub levels out a waste of time if you use it.

I get the chunking sound on occasion as well when powering up/down, however I've never had it do that in the middle of the night.

I've owned other mid-range receivers from Denon and Yamaha and the Sony definitely sounds far better than they ever did.

That banging noise is driving me nuts. It bangs even after the AVR going in standby, in the middle of the night for no reason, during every single power-on.

My new STR AN1000 makes the same strange noise on startup but I think it’s normal.

This receiver is amazing for the price I have spent 3k on receivers that didn’t sound as good as this Sony an1000

360SSM not only adds mid-bass but it also misplaces audio cues around the room, my rear channels are noticeably more vibrant when it is turned off.

I have the same receiver mine does the same thing so I would assume it’s normal

This AVR is fine. Better in many ways than the DN1080 that I adore. I’m actually using it at the moment.

Upon installation and turning on the Unit I noticed the loudest…Metal Thunk noise that echoed throughout the chassis upon initial startup.

I’m learning to live with it I guess. Not a big problem but annoying to me.

I have only owned this receiver for about 1 week so far but I have not encountered any issues so far.

I now had a lot of hissing coming from the speakers. Turning 360ssm off or using dolby or dts removed the hissing.

I have the same receiver mine does that too so I’m assuming it’s normal

have only used this AVR for a couple hours so far last night, and for now i'm loving it. It's amazing to me how much better of a job it does with surround effects over my previous Pioneer , it's night and day. Also the power/volume is plenty even at low levels.

i when I start up the receiver, i get a... "please wait" message on the receiver display most of the time. When this happens, it takes about 2 minutes to start up. When i first bought the receiver, it didn't do that...but now, it seems way more frequently.

Mine does too. Also quite an audible hum when unit is on.

I've just recently purchased the AN1000 from last year's models and am very pleased so far

AVS Forum▼ don’t recommend

had to return it due to my mistake of missing the fact that the receiver doesn't support HDR10 +

I’ve had one for a while . Never ever heard that noise.

AVS Forum▲ recommend

I'm finding the volume to be more than adequate at a lower level than my previous Yamaha .

the no high pass filter on the speakers when set to small is my biggest issue with this AVR.

AVS Forum— neutral

I too get the power on loud “metallic thunk” sound.

I’m using the RSL cgm23’s as LCRs with the 1000 and love it.

AVS Forum▼ don’t recommend

I have the AN1000 and it ignores HDMI lip sync delay on everything except eARC audio.

The TA-AN-1000 sounds better even without making the speaker settings with a lot of time, but I'm having a hard time getting good bass, unless it's Dolby Atmos material. When Playing stereo material, even trying all the different sound and calibration options, it doesn't sound good, no midrange, and no sound from the subwoofer.

Mine is performing quite well in my bedroom 5.1 system.

AVS Forum▼ don’t recommend

I don't like what the Sony did to the Speakers.
