A go-to nano reef light praised for strong coral growth across SPS and LPS plus a highly customizable spectrum and easy app. Coverage is best on smaller tanks, so larger setups often need two.

“I think the HD was a better light than the 16HD. IMO, the wifi connection of the HD is better than the Bluetooth connection of the 16HD, the HD lenses are much thicker than the 16HD lenses, and the spectrum of the lights isn't different enough to go, "I have to have the 16HD!"”

“I’ve had great growth from mine over a Waterbox 20.”

“I had better growth with my old viparspectra 165w light than I do with my 2 new AI prime 16hd hands down.. but yes the colours look better with AI prime”

“Yeah I run a 16HD , it’s okay , the torches and Kenya tree grow quickly but anything on the sandbed is a bit slow”

“I run AI Prime 16HD's on my Fluval Evo tanks, they do really well with SPS / nems.”

“In my opinion, I don't think the AI Primes alone look very good.”

“I had one on a Fluval Flex 15 which is almost identical in dimensions to your tank and growth was great, the app is super easy to use and there's always a strong used market for them so resale is good unlike the Chinese lights.”

“I'm running an ai prime 16HD on a 20gal with a green bta on it, seems to be doing ok.”

“I have a pair of AI 16HD on my 12 long and I have to agree the shimmer is better with the kessils tank, I do really like the sunrise/sunset effect and moonlight on the AIs so it’s a trade off imo.”

“AI prime 16HD is a super good light, I’m running 3 on 57g my 3’ x 2’ shallow reef at about 50% and I get some decent shimmer with the lights mounted about 11in off the waters surface with minimal rainbow effect and with 3 I have very minimal shadowing.”

“I have a 16HD over my 50g cube and it can pretty much grow anything.”

“I have two prime 16hd over a 17 gallon and 30% is the max before my torch start retracting.
You might need like 20-25%
The good news is they are quiet and last longer at such a low output.”

“I think the biggest issue with the primes is shadowing. Having LED’s in a small circle just doesn’t cut it for sps. With that being said, I think you can achieve a lot with ai primes. I am happy with mine! 2 Ai Prime 16HD’s over a 40 gal Recife.”

“I got an AI Prime 16HD and my growth went crazy since getting it.
I have a cheap $60 black box light off of eBay that was decent, but pathetic compared to what I have now”

“If your tank is wider go with two ai prime 16hd's.
I have two of them on another tank and they also lock ass.”

“I actually prefer it over an AI Prime 16hd I have on a tank I just cycled. I just like the blue.”

“I like the AI prime 16hd with it's highly customizable color spectrum, elegant form factor, decent power, and active air cooling. It really seems to be a great fit for the evo. The spread is perfect at roughly 8" mounting height. I run mine with a fairly white spectrum, even with some green and red sprinkled in (bite me!). I run a maximum of 60% on a few cha”

“The AI grows everything has different profiles you can download and is super customizable. I have softies, tons of LPS, and some styloporas/alveopora and montipora and they are growing like crazy.”

“This is my coral and invert qt. It’s a 32 biocube with an ai prime 16hd, an ai Nero 3 for flow, a single dosing pump for all for reef and a tunze osmolator for an ato. It can grow basically any coral.”
